NYT VR - New York Times App Reviews

Im using the app with the DoDo case and my iPhone 6 Plus and I get double vision. This is the only VR app that I have used that doesnt work on the 6 plus. I keep re-down long the app to see if it has been fixed.... NOPE!

Maybe its just that it doesnt work with the iPhone 6+ or maybe its my eyes (my left eye is a "lazy" eye), but I just cant seem to merge the two images into one 3D image. Bummer. Great idea though and maybe a future version will allow some adjustments (either for my iPhone or for my eyes).

Just got Google Cardboard and its works great! Love those stories in VR!

I used this app once and it did not work very well because I was seeing two images using the iPhone 6. But now the app is grayed out and looks like it is downloading or something and it wont open and I cannot delete it from my phone either. Pretty worthless.

Two images, not 3D. Distance from lenses to phone not well calibrated.

Loved the video and the surround 360 degree view but I couldnt get the sound on my iPhone 6s.

I still cannot get over the beauty and power of a story using this app.

Amazing storytelling and high quality videos

This is an amazing way to experience journalism. Breathtaking. Most of the low reviews are clearly based on people using the app incorrectly or not understanding the VR component. Cannot praise it enough.

Current version simply doesnt load any content on my 6s with iOS 9.3.2. It hands after hitting the OK button after the intro.

This App is incredible! It really is an awe inspiring experience, its like youre there. Very power with the content. Im not sure what a few other posts where talking about as it works great with my iPhone. This is the future of telling news, everyone should have this app, it definitely beats reading the paper!

I tried using the cardboard viewer supplied on the day it arrived but could not get the images to converge for 3D viewing and wrote a bad review. I have since found out that was because the display on my iPhone 6 had been set in "zoomed" mode. Switching to "STANDARD" mode made the problem go away. I now really appreciate this app. Try it with the new "Take Flight" download. It really demonstrates the capabilities of this technology.

There are severe alignment issues for people using this app in Google Cardboard. The abysmal implementation belies the New York Times professed commitment to this new medium. Without prompt acknowledgement of the problems plaguing users of Google Cardboard and the release of fixes for these issues, this app is a waste of time for both users and content creators. For shame, New York Times. For shame. Your VR initiative appears to be little more than a half-hearted publicity stunt to make you seem relevant in a digital world.

I was able to view the very first video, but thats it. Nothing happens when I try to download a video or it seems to download but then the screen is blank. I have an iPhone 5S which is up to date. I removed the app and reloaded it. Nothing. Am I the only one with this problem?

Waiting ten minutes for a fuzzy video that lasts less than three minutes is not my idea of a good time. Keep working on this and let us know when its really ready for use.

I have an iPhone 6 + and even in standard view, I am seeing double. I have no problems in the Google VR app nor in the Star Wars app. Just nytimes VR. Otherwise, super cool app!

The future is here and virtual reality is no longer a tantalizing dream. Sounds cliche by what an experience to immediately immerse yourself into a 3D world. Thank you NYTimes for the app and viewer, I really enjoyed it and look forward to more!

Needs lots of work, uninstalling after this review. Had high hopes...too bad!
